Paperback and other heros

Time is flying when you have fun right? The last few weeks have been like one long day for me. So much more to see and do and I just realized that it is to late to capture everything on my to do list.
St George is such a small town but if you really try to soak up every detail in a certain amount of time you will see it is not as easy as it looks like. Besides my job in a wine cellar wher I explain the stories behind each bottle I was busy with understanding how the locals in St George live their lives. One of my favorite stories is the one about the hero "Len Waters". He was the first and only Aboriginal fighter pilot during the World War 2.

It is quite hard to fit in to a small community in 3 month without being the disturbing stranger with the camera. I must admit I was a bit worried of having a stamp on my forehad saying: city girl. And don't get me wrong there were moments where I felt like the only naked girl crossing the street. But besides all the other things I still have to tell you about St George I would always highlight their welcoming and helpful nature.

Today I had my last day off and because I have this car issue I asked Trevor (my personal hero) to give me a lift to one of the famous attractions in the bush: Nindigully Pub. It is the oldest pub you can find in Queensland. And besides the biggest burger they offer it was also the set for the 90's movie "Paperback hero" with Hugh Jackman. Well I haven't met him but at least I can say we used the same entrance to find all of the souvenirs hanging on Nindigully walls IMPRESSIVE!

So I am really counting the days until my exhibition and can't wait to show you guys more about the bush life.

21.06.2012 Dana Gluzde and myself will go online with our  photography exhibition:
"ONE SMALL TOWN"

Keep your eyes open
